FREE Power Circles The Power Circle Experience
All interested seekers are invited to attend free 60- to 90-minute group support sessions called Power Circles. Each Power Circle is dedicated to a specific Targeted Outcome such as prosperity, health & wellness, relationships and freedom from addiction. Power Circle sessions are held in churches, meeting rooms, conference halls, storefronts and other appropriate venues. Circle members anonymously share with self-disclosure of feelings and events, and celebrate in gains and victories.

The Power Circle is modeled after the very successful support group phenomena of the Twelve-Step program of Alcoholics Anonymous. Sharing and self-disclosure within a community of like-minded individuals has been a proven factor of success for many years. The distinct difference between the I AM Power model and the Twelve-Step model is easy to understand. We believe that, although the Twelve-Step program is highly effective in helping individuals to overcome addictions and personal issues, the member’s duty to repeatedly affirm "I am powerless and I am an alcoholic, addict, co-dependent etc..." creates an endless circle of perpetual powerlessness.

The I AM Power model encourages the participant to claim his empowerment with the statement, "I am Powerful" versus the Twelve-Step claim of "I am Powerless." Instead of the Twelve-Step mantra of introducing one’s self with a proclamation and focus upon their difficulties, Circle members state, "Hi, I’m Judy, and I’ve got the Power!" Power Circles are considered sacred and non-commercial venues dedicated solely to the support, inspiration, and enrichment of attendees.

Power Circles are organized by leaders called Sherpas. A certified Sherpa may elect to lead only one Circle, or he can personally lead up to three Circles per day, seven days per week. The Sherpa arranges the venue, oversees the online calendar, ensures the format, and manages the sensory elements of the session. The Sherpa is the one known entity at the Circle and is responsible for the comfort level of the guests. A volunteer Mentor Coordinator, called an M.C., leads the session each week, and is allowed to lead a specific Circle session one out of every four weeks. The Sherpa may schedule a beginner’s orientation session 30 minutes in advance of the regular Power Circle session.

Sessions are designed to be both serious and entertaining. We use bongo drums, funky hats, talking sticks, and music and sound effects at appropriate times and intervals in order to make the session entertaining. This also helps in breaking the ice for newcomers.

The designated M.C. selects the music to be used and designates an assistant M.C. to keep the time and do any leg work. During the first 10 minutes of the session, members recite selected elements of the program in order to continuously familiarize everyone with the empowerment tools.

The next 40 minutes are dedicated to sharing and self-disclosure amongst the group. The M.C. kicks off with a 3-5 minute personal story of empowerment, then anyone who wishes may share for up to 3 minutes at a time.

During the final 10 minutes, guests offer to share insights – describing their T.B.A.G.s (Today’s Big Attitude of Gratitude), their gains and victories, a recent releasing from the B.I.G.R.A.T. Trap (the Blame, Irritation, Guilt, Resentment, Anger and Turmoil trap).

The group then stands in a “Pinky Clutch” and recites the P.E.R.F.E.C.T group affirmation (see acronyms). Guests are encouraged to socialize and to even pick out a Circle Buddy for help and support.
